First Site Visit

So it's been a little over a week since I visited the project site and toured the grounds and the existing buildings. I also met some of the key players involoved in the project. The executive director, who is effectively the client, is a strong woman, voices her opinions good-naturedly, is politicaly savvy, seems to be in control and is definitely enthusiastic. The owner's rep., Bentley, is a bit of a used car salesman, but seems to have some understanding of construction and he has experience in the local building industry so he should be good for some contacts. The building facilities manager is a relatively quiet, straight talking man, who I think I'll like a lot; he's knowledgable about the buildings, has considered opinions and he seems to care about the new project. And then there was another guy whose role is unclear to me, he was more or less presented as the institutional memory of the place because he has been there the longest, it sounds like he is a pot boiler, the kind of person who is very opinionated and vocal - the kind of person you want on your side from the beginning.

Thr building's are in pretty rough shape. The lighting is terrible. The building's are all not code compliant, which will become a problem the moment we make any significant renovations.
